Austin Reggae Festival Returns!

Event is back for its 27th year of supporting the Central Texas Food Bank, April 22-24

Austin, TX, April 12, 2022 – After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Austin Reggae Festival returns for another year of celebrating great music and fighting hunger in Central Texas on Friday, April 22th through Sunday, April 24st, at Vic Mathias Shores on the shores of Lady Bird Lake. The three-day festival of good vibes and great music benefits the Central Texas Food Bank.

The event is one of the Food Bank’s largest single fundraising events. Over the previous ten Reggae Festivals, dub music fans coming to the event each April have helped to raise more than $1,000,000 for the Central Texas Food Bank, which is equivalent to four million meals.

“We’re so glad the Austin Reggae Festival is back,” said Mark Jackson, Chief Development Officer of the Central Texas Food Bank. “It’s great to watch so many people come out to enjoy such a talented group of artists while helping their neighbors in need.”

A portion of the festival ticket price benefits the Food Bank. Patrons will also be able to make monetary or credit card donations to the Food Bank during the festival. The Food Bank can turn every dollar donated into four meals, so every donation helps in the organization’s efforts at serving nearly 60,000 people each week, one third of them children.

“At its core, helping people in need is a huge part of the music we celebrate at this festival,” said festival producer Pat Costigan. “That’s why we’re so happy that the Austin Reggae Festival and its fans have been able to accomplish so much to fight hunger.”

For its 27th anniversary year, the Austin Reggae Festival features an outstanding lineup emceed by Jah Ray. Performers include South America’s top reggae group, Gondwana, who hail from Chile and are appearing for the first time at the Austin Reggae Festival.
