Thank You, Kerbey Lane Cafe for Helping Us Fight Hunger!

Kerbey Lane Cafe is a staple in the Austin area. From the original Kerbey Lane house to the rest of their locations, they’ve made their mark on their customers and in the lives of families in need in Central Texas.

Thanks to Kerbey Lane, Food Bank clients can fill their pantries and will soon be able to wake up to the smell of their pancakes in the morning.

The Austin institution used their pancake reputation to fight hunger in several ways recently. During their Cakes and Cash Drive in July, all the proceeds from their specialty pancakes benefited the Food Bank. Known for their specialty pancakes ranging from their vegan to gluten-free options, there was a pancake choice for everyone. For those who didn’t order pancakes, there was the option to make a $1, $5 or any monetary donation to the Food Bank.

The event was a complete success. They raised $2,400 which helped provide 9,600 meals for families facing hunger!

But staying behind the scenes wasn’t wasn’t enough for the Kerbey Lane family. More than 20 volunteers arrived at the Food Bank to donate their time and experience the food distribution process first-hand. They inspected and sorted non-perishable food and even had the chance to inspect fresh corn!  A first for the Food Bank, thanks to the larger space that allows us to store more produce.

Even before helping provide meals for families, Kerbey Lane showed their support with pancakes in a very different way.

Displaying their Austin spirit, they kept it weird at the Keep Austin Weird Fest & 5K by providing the pancake batter for the dunking booth. The restaurant will donate the equivalent of the pancake batter used in the dunking booth to the Food Bank in the form of their pancake mix. Thank you, Kerbey Lane, for your generosity. We’re excited to share this treat with all of our neighbors in need!

We can’t thank Kerbey Lane Cafe enough for their continuous support and dedication to providing meals to the community!
