Make Hunger Relief a Part of your Lasting Legacy

Aug09

A beautiful painted mural of fruits and vegetables is merely the background for the real spotlight: an astonishing can wall made up of 907 small and large tin cans.

“Nourishing Lives Here” reads the wall in the volunteer lobby at the new 135,000 square-foot Food Bank. The size of the new facility can be overwhelming, but the wall is a simple reminder of why it was built.

The new space will allow us to enusre everyone in our Central Texas community has enough healthy food to eat.

With more than double the space, we’ll be able to distribute more than 60 million pounds of food per year to help hard working families facing hunger.

From seven times more freezer and cooler space, to a larger product recovery area to the new commercial kitchen, each aspect of the new Food Bank has been designed to maximize the impact in our community and decrease the hunger gap. Without the support of our community, this wouldn’t have been possible.

We now have the space to make sure all our children, older adults and families receive the food they need most, but our fight against hunger doesn’t end here. As we ramp up distribution, we need your help now more than ever to fill our shelves.

“I don’t know what we’d do if we didn’t have this. We’d just go without food and we’d be hungry.” says Bertran, a Food Bank client. “We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.”

Bertran is only one of the nearly 46,000 individuals who rely on our services each week. Fortunately you can make a difference in his life and for many others like him. When you make a donation to our Capital Campaign you can nourish lives for generations to come.

As a token of our appreciation, you will be recognized on the beautiful “canstruction” wall in the Food Bank’s visitor lobby. The “Nourishing Lives Here” wall showcases donor names on top of the cans and reminds us that the fight against hunger is a community effort.

With a gift of $500 or more, you will be recognized on a small can. With an especially generous contribution of $1,500 or more, you will be recognized on a large, center can. You have the option to include an individual, family name, or brief tribute message.
