Food Bank Launches Youth Ambassador Program

Sep19

This year, the Central Texas Food Bank launched the Youth Ambassador Program, which provides children, teens and students with opportunities to learn more about hunger relief.

Through the Youth Ambassador Program, ambassadors can learn about the Food Bank and complete a project related to its mission. The program engages young people in the fight to end hunger and gives them a flexible roadmap to grow their leadership skills. Ambassadors learn, create, advocate, volunteer and fundraise with the Food Bank, growing in leadership through their involvement in these activities.

Children (ages 5 and above), teens and college students residing in our 21-county service territory can become a Central Texas Food Bank Youth Ambassador, along with a committed adult mentor to assist them in their work. Once they have joined, Ambassadors can represent the Food Bank in schools and at community events, advocating for a community free of hunger.

As the Food Bank continues its work towards a F.R.E.S.H. future, we are proud to launch this initiative to educate and empower tomorrow’s leaders. Leading the community in ending hunger involves everyone having a seat at the table and our community’s youth is no exception. Ambassadors will have the opportunity to explore and research topics such as hunger, food insecurity, nutrition, food systems, gardening, agriculture, food policy and more.

The Food Bank is thrilled to see what our future Youth Ambassadors will bring to the hunger-relief movement. Together, we can end hunger!
