Central Texas Food Bank Is Feeding Futures Through NEW School Pantry Program

Jan24

“Our Feeding Futures School Pantry Program provides immediate and equitable access to nutritious food and services in a familiar environment while also encouraging family involvement in their child’s education,” said Sari Vatske, President and CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “Proper nutrition in the earliest years of life supports the success of students in the classroom today and lays the foundation for a future of possibilities.”

On January 24, 2024, the Central Texas Food Bank celebrated the launch of its first school pantry, located at Creedmoor Elementary School in Del Valle, as part of the Feeding Futures School Pantry Program. This new program ensures that children can access nourishing meals outside of school-provided breakfast, lunch and snacks.

The Feeding Futures School Pantry Program is a healthy hub for children and their families, offering shelf-stable options and a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, protein and dairy. Additionally, this pantry provides wrap-around support services such as nutrition education and benefits assistance that uplift and empower our neighbors.

By investing in innovative and holistic programming like this, the Central Texas Food Bank is committed to nourishing our community and feeding the future of Central Texas. To learn more about the programs and services that nourish lives, click here.
