Winter 2014

Message from CEO

The holidays are right around the corner. It’s a time to be with family and friends, observe time-honored traditions and maybe start some new ones of your own. It’s also a time to be especially thankful for all the things we so often take for granted – a roof over our heads, clothes to wear and enough food to eat.

Some of my fondest memories of the holidays are of the meals I’ve shared with family and friends through the years. Unfortunately, for Central Texans like Jena (featured in this issue) who don’t have access to regular meals, the holidays can be a painful reminder of hunger. After all, nobody should go hungry, especially during the holidays.

As you think about your own blessings during the coming days, please remember our neighbors who aren’t as fortunate. For these hungry families, children and seniors, having food on the table for the holidays wouldn’t be possible without your help.

For me, one of the most satisfying and joyful things about the holidays is the feeling that comes from giving to others. That’s really what the season is all about. So please make the most generous gift you can to help feed our hungry neighbors this holiday season. Thanks to our wonderful matching gift donors, we’ll be able to double the impact of your gift, providing food to twice as many folks and helping turn worries about hunger into happy holiday memories for them.

On behalf of those we serve together, thank you for your compassion and have a joyous holiday season.
