Hot sauce lovers will come together for the 25th Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, August 23, at Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St.

Known as one of the largest hot sauce festivals in the world, the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival will once again benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, the largest hunger relief charity in Central Texas.

“Day in and day out, the Capital Area Food Bank does the Herculean work of keeping segments of this community functioning, rather than going hungry,” said Louis Black, co-founder and editor of The Austin Chronicle. “In every way, The Austin Chronicle's sense of commitment, community and responsibility is an ideal match with the purpose of the Food Bank.”

Admission to the event is free to the public with a suggested donation of three healthy, non-perishable food items or a $5 cash donation to the Capital Area Food Bank. Last year, the event raised more than 45,000 meals for Central Texans in need, said Hank Perret, the President and CEO of the Capital Area Food Bank.

“This one-day family-fun event not only allows people to fight the heat, but fight hunger in their own community,” Perret said. “For 25 years, the Austin Chronicle has hosted an event that helps us put food into the hands of people at-risk of hunger in Central Texas.”

In addition to the more than 350 hot sauce entries, Dale Watson and His Lone Stars, Sweet Spirit, Bidi Bidi Banda, Sphynx and Tiarra Girls will take the stage to spice up the festival.

Attendees can further their support for the Capital Area Food Bank by purchasing Sizzlin’ Summer Raffle tickets through Sunday at the Food Bank for a chance to win prize packages valued at more than $f00 each. Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.
