In honor of World Food Day on October 16, NFL star and Central Texas Food Bank Ambassador at Large, Kelvin Beachum, is tackling hunger with a match challenge across the country that honors his hometown in Texas and the cities he has played for during his NFL career.
Our Food Bank Ambassador is helping us feed Central Texans in need with an exciting matching challenge of $5,000 from September 25 through October 16, leading up to World Food Day.
We need your help! If we meet Kelvin’s challenge by raising $5,000, Kelvin will double his match for a potential total of $15,000, the equivalent of 60,000 meals!
That means every dollar you give during the matching period will provide 12 meals for Central Texans in need. Help support our neighbors and tackle hunger!
The donations will help folks like Lora, who is raising her grandchildren and fighting colon cancer. After being diagnosed with cancer, Lora has had to endure treatment that has left her tired and unable to do much for days. Unable to work, money has been tight for her family. Thanks to the Food Bank, Lora can turn to her local pantry to get the food she needs to keep herself and her growing grandkids healthy.
“I can’t come up with enough nice words to say. These people that donate here donate a lot. Without them, some of these people I don’t think would survive… I really appreciate them and thank God for all of the hard work they put in to get the food here,” Lora said.
We’re proud to partner with Kelvin, a Mexia, Texas, native who is passionate about giving back to our neighbors in Texas. Help support the Central Texans facing hunger and join Kelvin's fight to tackle hunger.
