Giving Back is Easy this Holiday Season

Nov23

Holiday meals make some of our best memories and our neighbors shouldn’t have to struggle with putting a meal on their table. There’s no place like hope for the holidays and with your help, we can make this a memorable season for all Central Texans. Here’s how:

1. Make a gift in honor of your loved one. It's the perfect gift for someone who has everything.

Thanks to generous matching gift challenges from Beaumont Foundation and Texas Jacobson Aviation, for every $10 you donate, you can provide 80 meals for your Central Texas neighbors this holiday season.

Make your donation today!

2. Grabbing a quick meal or grocery shopping at Whole Foods? Make your trip more meaningful and make a monetary donation at the register from December 1-14 to help families this season during Capitol Metro’s Stuff the Bus food drive. If you’re there from December 9-11, you can purchase a pre-packaged bag filled with nutritious food to help complete a family’s holiday meal.

3. Enjoy a special holiday screening at Johnson’s Backyard Garden for Holiday on the Farm. Come help glean sweet potatoes to be donated to the Food Bank. While you’re there, take a hay ride or take your family photo on the special holiday tractor. Once the sun sets, sit back, relax and enjoy “The Grinch” hosted by the Alamo Drafthouse. Food donations will be collected and proceeds benefit the Food Bank and MusicTech and Food. The event starts at 3:00 P.M. on December 10. Purchase tickets here.

4. Take the family out for Univision’s free annual Noche Navideña where you can enjoy music, food, entertainment and family-friendly activities. Give back to the community every time you enter the raffle. Entry to the raffle is one food donation per raffle ticket. The event will be held on December 10 from 5 to 9 P.M. at the Mexican American Cultural Center.

If you can’t make it to Noche Navideña, save your food donations! Univision is partnering with the Trail of Lights on December 14 and individuals who bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Food Bank will be able to enter the Trail of Lights 30 minutes early.

5. Surprise your favorite person with the first ever pop-up brunch at Uchi on December 11 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. The Brunch Omakase will consist of a multi-course meal filled with savory and sweet brunch dishes meant to be shared between two people for $100. Proceeds benefit the Food Bank to help families have a special holiday season. Call to reserve your spot today: 512-916-4808.

6. When you stop by Bone Daddy’s BBQ, don’t forget to bring a healthy, non-perishable food donation to help families facing hunger this holiday season. Anyone who donates will receive a free appetizer.

7. Put a smile on the faces of that special someone and a family in need when you purchase a gift through Amazon Smile. Amazon donates 0.5 percent When you purchase your gift through Amazon Smile, Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of the purchase price on eligible items to the Food Bank.

8. Find the perfect bag for anyone on your list at Frye. A bag from Frye is a gift that gives back to our neighbors. When you purchase Frye's custom bag, they will donate $100 to the Food Bank to help families facing hunger.

9. Celebrate the holidays with a bottle of Gracious Gift wine. Every bottle purchased helps fight hunger in our community. A portion of the proceeds from each bottle is donated to the Food Bank.
