Amplify Austin Shatters Record with More than 2,800 Families Fed

Mar06

Our community’s passion to help families in need is overwhelming. We are amazed by all the support we received during Amplify Austin! Thanks to the support from 1,100 incredible donors, we were able to raise $252,874, shattering our goal of raising $170,00 for families facing hunger in Central Texas.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, Amplify Austin will help feed 2,809 Central Texan families for a month. Thank you all for making a difference in the lives of families.

To help kick off Amplify Austin, attendees joined us at the Food Bank to watch the donations roll in. The highlight of the night was a surprise announcement from former President and CEO, Hank Perret. He would match all donations up to $10,000 during the first six hours. We can’t thank him enough for his extraordinary support.

The event wouldn’t have been the same without live entertainment from Jeff Plankenhorn and the Purgatory Players. Thanks to LoudMouth Rentals for providing sound equipment to the band. During the evening, attendees also received a tour of the new facility and were able to participate in a special volunteer opportunity in our community kitchen. We would also like to thank our sponsor, Thirsty Planet for providing beverages during the event and making it a fun evening.

Amplify Austin wouldn’t have been a success without the Wood Family. We especially want to thank them for sponsoring a power hour on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The goal was to raise $10,000, with the Wood Family matching all donations up to $10,000, for a total of $20,000. The power hour was a complete success!

We would also like to thank Ryan Companies for helping donors double their impact during lunchtime by sponsoring another power hour, matching donations up to $1,500, on Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Thank you for your generosity.

The Food Bank was only one of the nearly 700 nonprofits that benefited from this year’s record-breaking day of giving. Overall, the event raised $9.8 million. It’s unbelievable to see the power our community has. We can’t thank our supporters enough for helping close the hunger gap in Central Texas.
