8-Year Old Mace's #NoHunger Food Drive Surprises Again

Jan05

For his 2nd annual food drive for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, 8-year-old Mace Massingill knew that the two donation filled pallets was a lot of food, but he never imagined how much it really was.  To his surprise, he had raised 31,000 meals for families in Central Texas, surpassing his goal of 10,000 meals this year.

With the support of family and friends, Mace was able to raise more than 3,000 pounds of food and $7,140 in monetary donations that will help feed the hungry in our community.

After dropping off donations at the Food Bank from a small family food collection last year, Mace realized that there were still a lot of hungry people, and that he could do more.

What started as a family food collection during the holidays has turned into a #nohunger campaign that keeps exceeding his goals each year.

“There are still hungry people out there, and I am not stopping until there are no more hungry people,” Mace said.

Last year, his goal was to raise 1,000 meals for families. He was shocked to know he had raised more than 5,000 meals for his community.

Mace plans to continue this tradition each year. He had previously planned to raise 15,000 meals next year, but after this year’s astonishing donation, his new goal is 60,000 meals.  We have no doubt that Mace will amaze us once again next year.
