6th Annual Stuff the Bus is a Huge Success

Dec18

What do a pea, a watermelon, a tomato and Santa Claus have in common? Well, during the holiday season, they help "Stuff the Bus".

Thanks to the incredible support from our community, this year’s annual "Stuff the Bus" campaign raised more than 100,000 meals for Central Texans in need, helping provide Hope for the Holidays.

The campaign brings together Whole Foods Market and Capital Metro to encourage shoppers to give back during the holidays by donating at the register or purchasing a $5 bag of healthy, non-perishable food to help families complete their holiday meal.

To give shoppers more time to give back, Whole Foods Market allowed guests to make donations at the register from December 1-14 and for the first time, Capital Metro made it easy for families to participate from anywhere through their online fundraiser.

Bag donations were collected at all five Austin-area Whole Foods locations and participants at the Domain and Downtown locations were able to place their donations inside a bus parked outside the stores from December 8 through December 10.

Looking for a way to give back, AArrow Sign Spinners joined the campaign by donating their time and arrows to encourage families to "Stuff the Bus." A trained arrow spinner was posted near the Whole Foods parking lot entrances guiding families to the buses while helping spread the work to cross traffic.

To encourage people to participate, KIND Snacks donated $10,000 to the "Stuff the Bus" campaign. Individuals who donated to Stuff the Bus were given a KIND bar at the Domain and Downtown locations. Even Santa Claus joined the fun for the first time this year, taking pictures with participants who donated.

We can’t thank our amazing community, Capital Metro, Whole Foods Market, AArow Sign Spinners and KIND Snacks enough for helping make this event a great success. There’s no place like hope for the holidays and thanks to you all, families can gather around a full table this holiday season. Thank you!
