Donation Policy:

Please keep in mind while you plan your event that items donated to the event (food, set-up equipment, etc.) will not be acknowledged as donations to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.

The proceeds from the event (minus the value of any goods/services the Food Bank provided) will be acknowledged as a tax-deductible donation to the Food Bank from the third party and the organization or individual will be sent a thank you note with IRS reporting information. 

Thank you letters for in-kind goods and services donations will list only the specific good or service donated, without a market dollar value assigned.  This market value is for the donor to determine with their tax advisor.

Donated Food - Containment and Delivery

 

Our hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Please note our Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. - noon and 12:45 p.m. - 4 p.m. and we are closed Sunday.)

How many supplies would you like to request (see the Coordinator's Kit for more details)?

 Boxes (2 1/2 feet tall, holds 150 lbs. of food)  Barrels (3 x 1.5 ft, holds 250 lbs. of food, provided on a case-by-case basis)

Virtual Food Drive

 

Consider a Virtual Food Drive, which allows your participants to donate online - anytime, anywhere using a credit card. We’ll create the donation page using images and messaging you provide. Then, we’ll provide you with the URL so you can share it in all your promotions. Please send logos or other graphics to fooddrive@austinfoodbank.org to include them on your Virtual Food Drive page. Include your organization and event names with the email.

Food Bank Volunteer Request 

If you would like a Food Bank volunteer at your event, the Food Bank will consider providing support based on the following criteria:

  • Estimated funds raised
  • Estimated pounds raised
  • How do you plan and promoting and publicizing the event?
  • Is this a first time event? If not, how much did you raise last year?
  • Timing (as related to other Food Bank events)

After reviewing your registration form, we'll respond to your request within one business week if we are able to recruit and place volunteers for your event. We recommend all volunteer requests are submitted one month prior to your event.
