Fresh Food for Families provides low-income families with fresh produce... free of charge.

For Central Texas' elderly, working poor families and those living on fixed incomes, Fresh Food for Families addresses the issues of hunger and malnutrition.

Fresh Food for Families is a unique program that provides low-income families with quality fruits, vegetables and other perishables free of charge, on a regular basis. These fresh foods supplement existing grocery budgets with much-needed nutritional items. Fresh Food for Families distributes an average of 30 pounds of perishable food to more than 3,600 families each month.

Fresh Food for Families is CAFB's primary method for distributing produce and other perishable foods.

CAFB Partner Agency clients receive fresh onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pears, oranges or an array of other available produce. The program currently distributes each month to sites where thousands of pounds of produce and perishables are directly distributed to those in need.

Fresh Food for Families distribution sites are located in economically depressed areas.

This CAFB program involves collaboration with Food Bank Partner Agencies who assist in the distribution of the produce and are responsible for informing their clients of an upcoming distribution day.

Funding is needed for transportation costs for bringing the fresh produce to the Food Bank and for the cost of delivering the food in the Food Bank's refrigerated trucks.
