Program Partnerships
In addition to Weekly Food Distribution, Kids Cafe, Fresh Food For Families, HOPE, Regional Food Delivery and CHOICES, the CAFB also collaborates with the following programs:
Texas Fresh Approach
The inmates at a state prison grow fresh vegetables and fruits for distribution at no cost to the Food Bank's Partner Agencies. Funding is needed for seed, fertilizer, packaging and transportation. The prison provides the land, labor and agricultural expertise. The inmates gain self-esteem from knowing they are giving back to society.
Texas Second Chance
In this partnership with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, non-violent prison inmates help the CAFB sort through thousands of pounds of incoming donations each week. At the same time, the inmates learn such skills as forklift operation and warehouse inventory that they can take with them to the job market upon their release.
