“Wheels of Sharing” Mobile Food Pantry Feeding Rural Communities. Next Stop : Lexington


Austin, TX —

WHAT:          "Wheels of Sharing" Mobile Food Pantry  

WHERE:       Wheatley Street on the Square

WHEN:          3rd Thursday of each month beginning March 19 from 10 a.m. – noon.

The site is sponsored by the Tanglewood Baptist Church, Lexington Alliance of Churches.

WHY:            The Capital Area Food Bank created "Wheels of Sharing" to fill in both geographic and  service gaps in emergency food assistance in rural Central Texas communities.

·  Each family receives one week's worth of food (about 50 pounds.)

·        Food distributed to include: potatoes, bag salad, canned green beans and corn,
tuna, soups, healthy cereals, canned peaches, pasta and sauce, and other healthy,
high-protein foods.

·        Guests can also receive one-on-one assistance applying for Food Stamps from
CAFB Food Stamp Outreach Coordinators.

The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas is to feed the hungry by providing food and grocery products to human service agencies serving people in need throughout Central Texas. In its 28th year of service, the Food Bank currently provides food and grocery products to 355 Partner Agencies in 21 Central Texas counties.
