Priority Mail: Nourishing Hungry Central Texans
18th annual “Stamp Out Hunger” the Nation’s Largest One-Day Food Drive

Austin, TX —

How it works

  • Help the Capital Area Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers nourish hungry Central Texans during "Stamp Out Hunger," the largest one-day food drive in the nation, on Saturday, May 8.
  • H-E-B provides paper donation bags, which are placed in mailboxes across Central Texas a few days before the drive. If you don't receive a bag, any paper or plastic bag will do.
  • On Saturday, May 8, prior to your regular mail delivery, place a bag of healthy, non-perishable food next to your mailbox.
  • All food collected locally will be made available to the Food Bank's 350 Partner Agencies in 21 Central Texas counties.
  • This year's goal is 200,000 pounds of food.

NEW This Year: STOMP Collaboration

  • 200 households will receive coupons for $10 off the STOMP performance on Sunday, May 9 at the Paramount Theater after donating on Saturday, May 8 to "Stamp Out Hunger." Or drop off food donations at the Paramount box office now through Sunday, May 9 and receive $10 off tickets to STOMP. For more information, visit www.austinfoodbank.org/stampout.

Media Opportunities

  • Thursday, May 6:  STOMP cast members and USPS letter carriers will volunteer at the Food Bank 10 - 10:45 a.m., with a special performance by the STOMP cast, 10:45 - 11 a.m.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Noon, Saturday, May 8: Follow Letter Carrier Buddy Griggs on his walking route in Central Austin. (It is preferred that media do not approach other Carriers.)  To coordinate, call Buddy directly at 512.565.0559 and he will let you know where to meet him.
