Hunger in America and 68 Billion lbs of Food Waste. Austin, TX —
With hunger at record levels, this award winning film explores the paradox of 68 billion pounds of wasted food annually in this country, while 1 in 6 Americans now struggle with hunger every day.
Following the screening, a panel of local experts and the filmmaker will discuss the issues raised in the film and how Central Texans can have an active role in solving this problem.
As part of this unique collaboration with CAFB, The Blanton will host a food drive from September 15-30. Visitors to the museum are encouraged to bring canned goods - with pop-tops and preferably of high protein foods, child friendly meals, and will receive $1 off admission for their donation.*
*A total of $1 off one regularly priced admission will be given, regardless the number of cans donated.
The Blanton Museum of Art The Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin is one of the foremost university art museums in the country and has the largest and most comprehensive collection of art in Central Texas. The museum is located at the intersection of Martin Luther King and Congress Avenue and is open Tuesday though Friday from 10 - 5, Saturday from 11-5, and Sunday from 1-5. Thursdays are free admission days and every third Thursday the museum is open until 9 pm. Admission Prices: Adults $9, Kids 12 and under FREE, Seniors (65+) $7, Youth/College Students (13-21) $5.
