Feeding The Hungry… One can at a time

Austn, TX —

Austin, Texas – Seven teams of design and construction professionals will have just eight hours to defy logic and gravity, as they build fantastic sculptures from thousands of cans of food. They’ll bring their creations to life, driven by the knowledge that with poverty and hunger at record levels, their structures will not only delight audiences, but raise public awareness about current hunger levels and help feed hungry central Texans. The structures will be on display in the mall until November 20, when they will be deconstructed and the estimated 25,000 cans donated to the Food Bank.

WHEN:
Saturday, November 12 - Structure construction 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Judging will start at 4.30 p.m. and results posted by 6 p.m. - KVUE reporter Bryan Mays will emcee.

Viewers Choice voting page will be posted on the CAFB website Monday November 14 through November 20

WHERE:
Barton Creek Square Mall (2901 S. Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, TX 78746)

WHO:
Judges are;

  • Addie Broyles, Food Writer, Austin American Statesman
  • Stephen Sharpe, Editor, Texas Architect Magazine
  • Ulrich Dangel, Associate Professor, UT School of Architecture

Partners - Austin Chapter of Society of Design Administration, American Institute of Architects, Snackbox, Texas Star Document Services, KVUE Austin, Hello Kitchen Design and the Capital Area Food Bank.
