Boy Scouts Step Forward To Volunteer and Feed Hungry Central Texans Austin, TX —
With record levels of hunger and records being broken for this year’s Central Texas Souper Bowl of Caring food drive, the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) has more than 200 tons of donated food in its warehouse awaiting volunteers to inspect and sort before it can be distributed. Upon hearing this, the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, stepped in to help with the backlog, and more than eighty (80) Scouts will descend upon the Food Bank on Saturday February 25, to volunteer for a full day of processing food for CAFB.
The day starts at 9 a.m. and all the Scouts who volunteer that day will earn the unique “Texas Hunger Fighter” patch. This award was specifically created for those Scouts who volunteer at CAFB on this day. As the slots quickly filled up, additional Scout volunteer days may be added to meet the interest.
