Act Today to Support Child Nutrition Reauthorization AUSTIN, TX — The Capital Area Food Bank asks for your help to urge members of the U.S. House Committee on Ways & Means to fully fund Child Nutrition Reauthorization. Now is the time to urge members of this committee and Congress to pass a fully-funded bill by September 30, before critical child nutrition programs expire. BACKGROUND: President Obama requested $1 billion per year in new investments in federal child nutrition programs over 10 years. With nearly a quarter of America’s children at risk of hunger, and Texas leading the nation in child hunger, full funding is required to support these vital programs. We must act now. Members of the Ways & Means Committee will deliberate funding for the legislation. Child Nutrition Reauthorization must be fully-funded to nourish low-income children. If your Congressional Representative sits on the House Committee on Ways & Means, please contact him/her to urge full funding of Child Nutrition Reauthorization. In Texas, Representative Lloyd Doggett (25th District) sits on Ways & Means. Contact information: (202) 225-4865 or e-mail at https://forms.house.gov/doggett/webforms/issue_subscribe.htm.
