Judy Carter, former President & CEO received the 2007 John van Hengel Fellowship of the Year from America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network. The Food Bank also received the 2007 Innovative Model Program of the Year award from America's Second Harvest in recognition for its "360 Initiative" – raising food, funds and volunteer hours through cross-departmental relationships. The program brings staff together from volunteer services, food resources and development to maximize support from the community through the use of strategic, relational fundraising techniques. |

Capital Area Food Bank received an award for Most Effective Fundraising Campaign for its “We’re Not Done Yet” campaign that raised $559,418 for local hunger after the organization shipped 2.7 million pounds of food to the region after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, severely depleting its reserves to meet local needs. |
