Why give right now?

More people are in need of emergency food assistance now than a year ago and some are for the very first time:

  • Our Partner Agencies have seen a 60% average increase in need since this time last year. We are currently distributing more than 2 million pounds of food each month and estimate this will continue for the forseeable future. We need your support to continue to meet our community's growing needs.
  • In early September 2009, Feeding America conducted a survey of food banks to learn more about the challenges they, their member agencies and clients face. The report shows a staggering increase in food bank demand (99% report an increase in demand for emergency food assistance over the past year).

What makes CAFB a great community investment?

Your donation goes a long way. Every $5 donation provides $25 worth of nutritious food for hungry Central Texans.

We return nearly 97 percent of all donated resources back to the community in programs and food distribution. All financial contributions are tax-deductible. View our donation policies & FAQ.

The Capital Area Food Bank was awarded Charity Navigator's highest possible rating.

Support Ongoing Fundraising Campaigns in the Community

To help boost local philanthropy, the “I Live Here, I Give Here.” campaign educates Central Texans about the many ways non-profits provide solutions to critical community issues. Show how "you give here" with a donation.

The Hunger Bytes campaign invites technology companies or related professional or student organizations in Central Texas to help raise 2.5 million meals. In 2009, the campaign has volunteered 1,025 hours and has raised 849,761 meals for hungry Central Texans.

If your company is affiliated with the campaign, you can donate online.  Or learn how your company or organization can join the campaign.

RecognizeGood.org is an online public forum where anyone can reward, acknowledge and promote others for their acts of kindness and unselfish charity. Recognize someone on RecognizeGood, and they will make a small donation in their honor to a local nonprofit in your area. CAFB has been chosen as one of those recipients.
