Workplace Volunteering

Make volunteering a part of your corporate culture.  By working together on a project that helps their community, employees or members of any group can reap the benefits of community involvement, pride and a sense of accomplishment. Your team will gain a sense of cooperation, respect, productivity, dependability, motivation and communication. Register online, or email volunteer@austinfoodbank.org for scheduling.

"We're all committed to the same task.  Cleaning and sorting food.  You can't really tell if the person next to you is a senior executive,  an entry-level admin, someone who's been at the company for 5 years or 5 months.  We're just a team - helping hungry people."

- Lisa

Workplace Volunteers Needed

Take your team out for an afternoon of community service. Shifts are available Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - Noon, or 1 - 4 p.m. Register online.

Does your volunteer time qualify for corporate matching?

Some companies match every hour you volunteer with a cash donation.  Contact your human resources representative to find out how to turn your volunteer hours into money to feed hungry Central Texans. If your company offers this option, or you need to confirm eligibility for corporate matching, email Stephanie Erickson at serickson@secondharvest.org to get started.

"Wow!  Our group was blown away by their [volunteer] experience. They were all impressed with the efficiency and professionalism you displayed. They came back just overwhelmed. You did a great job of showing our attendees about the need to help out people who need nourishment. One lady told me it totally changed how she sees food. We are really grateful."

- Susan Sneller, Texas Center for Service-Learning

The Food Bank's air-conditioned product recovery workrooms are well suited for team building groups of various sizes. Here you will inspect, sort, box and bag donations received from community food drives and other donation partners.

Food Bank volunteers and food and fund drive efforts make it possible to distribute more than 16 million pounds of food a year to more than 370 Partner Agencies - soup kitchens, family crisis centers, church food pantries, hospices, day care centers and more - that serve the hungriest people in our community.

Ready to get started on your food and fund drive effort?

"Our volunteers LOVE coming to volunteer at the Food Bank.  Your staff is organized, courteous, always appreciative and works very hard to make the volunteer experience a fun one!  You guys make something as simple as sorting, boxing and weighing food a truly rewarding experience!  I will continue to send EF volunteers to the Food Bank again and again."
