Donate food for hungry Central Texans and in-kind donations to support Partner Agencies serving the hungry. For every pound of food donated, the Food Bank can provide the equivalent of .8 meals!

Food Donation Drop-Off Locations

Capital Area Food Bank

Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
An after-hours food drop box for food donations is available at the front entrance. 

Austin-area Randalls locations.
Austin-area RunTex locations.

What food should I donate?

  • Healthy, non-perishable food
  • Items with intact, un-opened, consumer or commercial packaging
  • Items with non-breakable packaging (no glass please)
  • Food within the expiration date on the packaging

What are the most requested food items?

  • Canned meats like tuna, stew and chili (pop-tops preferred)
  • Canned vegetables
  • Pasta & pasta sauce
  • Beans
  • Rice
  • Healthy cereals
  • Peanut Butter
  • Baby food & baby formula

What happens to my food donation?

After being checked for safety and quality, the Food Bank distributes your food donation to one or more of the 370 Partner Agencies across 21 Central Texas counties.  Partner Agencies including soup kitchens, pantries and shelters then provide food to hungry Central Texans. Learn how food banking works.

In-Kind Donations

In-kind donations are non-monetary goods and services that help the Food Bank every day. Many in-kind donations are used by CAFB Partner Agencies, thus allowing them to invest additional funding and energy into programs and services for their clients.

Examples of in-kind donations include:

  • Refrigerators and freezers
  • Vehicles for food transportation
  • Office furniture and equipment like fax machines, desks, and computers
  • Office supplies like large quantities of notebook covers, clip boards, pens, and pencils
  • Technical support of the Food Bank computer network
  • Media sponsorships
  • Food drive materials
  • Printing services for CAFB publications
  • Soup bowls and celebrity signatures for the Austin Empty Bowl Project
  • Agency and staff training

The Food Bank is in need of the following items: 

  • High-volume paper shredder 
  • Office chairs 
  • Ergonomic computer workstations 
  • Packing tape 
  • Paper folding machine
