Austin Empty Bowl Project

One of Austin’s favorite family-friendly events, Austin Empty Bowl Project has provided local potters, musicians and restaurants the opportunity to help hungry Central Texas children for more than a decade. Always the Sunday before Thanksgiving, for $20, you can purchase a locally hand-crafted bowl filled with your pick of delicious soups and bread donated by local chefs. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Capital Area Food Bank’s Kids Cafe program

The Austin Empty Bowl Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible.

Here's how it works:

  1. Choose your favorite bowl from the thousands of handmade bowls donated by area potters and students.
  2. Pay for your bowl(s).  It's $20 per bowl. Make checks payable to the Austin Empty Bowl Project. Your donation goes further with cash or check, however, they will accept credit cards.
  3. Get your new bowl washed before you get soup.
  4. Get your bowl filled with soup and bread from some of Austin's finest restaurants.
  5. Enjoy your soup while listening to local, live music.
  6. Before you leave, have your bowl wrapped up to take home with you.

Silent Auction

Bid on bowls signed by your favorite celebrities or crafted and/or decorated by local and national clay artists. You must make bids in person, but you don’t have to be present to win. Bidding ends at 3:00 on the day of the event.
