Community Events

Thousands of community events, Food & Fund drives and cause-related marketing campaigns benefit the Food Bank each year. RBFCU Double Your Donation Food Drive

RBFCU Branches in Austin ASC, Ben White, Buda, Cedar Park, Domain, Dripping Springs, Lake Creek, Lockhart, MoPac, North Austin, Parmer Lane, Round Rock, San Marcos, Seton, Southpark Meadows, Stone Hill, Steiner Ranch and Wonderworld

RBFCU will match donations (up to $50,000 in food or funds) to the Food Bank in October.  Double your impact to day by:

  • dropping off non-perishable food items at your neighborhood RBFCU branch
  • making a financial contribution at your local RBFCU branch
  • making a donation online through their Virtual Food Drive page


Wheatsville Food Co-op Community Action Wednesday

Every Wednesday this month support the Food Bank when you shop at Wheatsville Food Co-op. One percent of sales from all Wheatsville Food Co-op stores will benefit the Food Bank. They will also have donation bins for your food donations. 


Carnivore's Ball

Bring your stretchy pants for the "ultimate meat event" for the discerning meat enthusiast hosted by Jess Pryles (AKA Burger Mary). This event features meat-tastic meals by Freedmen's Bar, Salt & Time, Slow Bone and others. Drinks and desserts by Sugar Mama's Bakeshop, Moonshine, Saint Arnold, Garrison Brothers Distillery and others will enhance your meatstravaganza experience. Laugh Away Hunger III

Gateway Church Austin (7104 McNeil Dr. Austin, Texas)

Austin’s funniest improvisors are performing in this family friendly show (ages 10+). Similar to the popular TV series, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, improvisors will perform scenes based entirely on audience suggestions. Admission is free with a donation of non-perishable food/hygiene items or HEB gift cards for Capital Area Food Bank's partner agency, Gateway Church Food Pantry. Umlauf Sculpture Garden Pumpkin Carving Competition

Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum (605 Robert E. Lee Road, Austin, Texas)

Grab a pumpkin at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and museum and learn the tricks of the trade to carving a jack-o'-lantern from Professor Pumpkin. Then, enter your masterpiece in the competition to win bragging rights and prizes.  Admission is free when you bring three healthy, nonperishable food items to donate to the Food Bank.  This event is sponsored in part by H-E-B.


Sprouts Farmers Markets Grab n' Give

During the holiday season, join Sprouts Farmers Markets in stocking our shelves with healthy foods. Grab a pre-filled bag with our most needed items and donate at the register.

Full Sail Brewing Company Texas Food Bank Charity Program

November 1 - December 31

Full Sail is proud to partner with H-E-B to support food banks across Texas. For every case of Full Sail product sold at H-E-B, they will donate $1 to your local Food Bank.


East Austin Community Fall Festival

Saturday, November 1

Meet neighbors new and old to enjoy good food and good music at this family-friendly event.  You'll be entertained by local artists including DJ Crash Of The Dirty Wormz. Take part in the community Flash MOB. Children under 4 are free.  Please bring healthy, nonperishable food items to donate to the Food Bank. Fill the Bus

Residents, staff, family and friends are invited to help the Clairmont Retirement Community"Fill the Bus" with canned goods to support the Food Bank. Cash and check donations are also welcome.

Barton Creek Square Mall

Watch the construction of colossal structures of cans created by teams from the architecture, engineering, design, and construction fields. All food used to create the structures will be donated to the Food Bank. For more information, visit their website.

Select your favorite from thousands of locally crafted ceramic bowls, have it filled with gourmet soup and bread and listen to live music while enjoying your lunch. Your $20 donation goes to Kids Cafe, a program of the Capital Area Food Bank, and Meals for Kids, a program of Meals on Wheels & More.  Love the Austin Empty Bowl Project but hate the line? Ongoing Events

Cars and Coffee Austin

Join the John Eagle European Car and Coffee at The Oasis on Lake Travis every second Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. This Cruise-In is an informal, come-and-go event for the Classic, Vintage, Antique and Exotic automotive enthusiasts. This event is free and open to the public.  Donations to support the Food Bank are accepted at our booth. For more information visit their website.

Purgatory Players Gospel Brunch

Every Sunday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Strange Brew, join the Purgatory Players Jeff Plankenhorn, Jon Dee Graham, Scrappy Jud Newcomb, Jon Greene, & Seela Misra for "Gospel music for the nondenominational-folk".  This event is free and open to the public.  Donations to support the Food Bank are accepted at every show.
