Resource Development Intern

Why this position is critical to our mission:

The Resource Development Intern will provide integral support to the Food Bank Resource Development Team during the fast-paced fall season. The Resource Development Intern will gain experience in executing a fundraising campaign from planning to evaluation, constituent relationship management, public speaking, and basic nonprofit management.

Pay Rate: Unpaid/available for academic credit

Time Commitment: flexible

Dates Needed:  Fall Semester 2014

About Capital Area Food Bank of Texas:

The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in ending hunger. Since 1981, the Food Bank in collaboration with more than 300 partner agencies has been helping Central Texans in need providing healthy food, nutritional program assistance and education, so they can make better choices at mealtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Development Coordinator in raising $25,000 through the execution and success of our Holiday Card campaign including coordinating the design and production of the 2014 holiday card, soliciting orders, fulfilling orders, and stewarding holiday card donors.
  • Assist the Development Specialist and Development Coordinator in the execution and success of our public sector giving campaign by attending speaking events and fairs.
  • Assist the Development Specialist and Development Coordinator in maintaining database integrity, de-duplication, and gift processing within the Raiser’s Edge software.
  • Participate in the Resource Development team’s quarterly appeals analysis/evaluation meeting as well as monthly transactional fund development meetings.
  • Assist with community events and tours as needed.
  • Attend team building and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an Undergraduate or Graduate student.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Must have a general interest in the Development profession.
  • Experience working with The Raiser’s Edge software a plus.
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.
