Federal Advocacy

The Capital Area Food Bank advocates to preserve and protect federal nutrition programs that nourish hungry Central Texans and enhance the organization's ability to provide emergency hunger relief. This includes advocacy around the Farm Bill, Child Nutrition Reauthorization and the federal budget.

National Coalitions

The Food Bank works in concert with national coalitions working to help end hunger.

Feeding America: Feeding America's public policy efforts include working with Congress, as well as state and local officials, to strengthen and expand the programs and solutions available to our nation's food insecure. Their goal is to support policies that help solve America's growing hunger crisis, while raising public awareness about the issues of hunger in our country. Their mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.

Food and Research Action Center: The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) is the leading national nonprofit organization working to improve public policies and public-private partnerships to eradicate hunger and under-nutrition in the United States. FRAC works with hundreds of national, state and local nonprofit organizations, public agencies, corporations and labor organizations to address hunger and food insecurity, as well as their root cause: poverty.
